FRAN CLASSIC
FranClassic are a Brighton based three-piece band, consisting of Fraser Forbes, Dan Wheale and Roman Scott. They have been together as a band since early 2010, although they have known each other for years. Fraser, 23, only picked up a guitar at the age of 16 and probably wouldn’t have at all if it had not been for an injury that prevented him from playing football. No sooner had he picked up the guitar, he showed a natural ability as a songwriter and lyricist. Dan, 24, started playing guitar at the age of 13 and quite early on discovered he had natural musical ability. He went on to study a music degree at BIMM (The Brighton Institute of Modern Music). Musically, he has not looked back, now teaching music as well as playing it. Roman, 18, has been brought up around music with his Mum, Dad and three sisters all being involved in the industry. He started Beat-boxing at the age of 12 and much preferred it to carting his drum kit around. Roman has just finished his National Diploma in Music Technology at Northbrook College, Worthing. Fraser and Roman grew up together, whilst Fraser and Dan met at Primary School. It wasn’t until years later, however, that Fraser and Dan started playing music together at a local Open Mic night. Only a year ago did Roman become part of the group. When starting out, the band performed at various Open Mic nights in and around Brighton, gathering a good reputation and following as a new, exciting sound. Later that year, they entered auditions for the Open Mic UK 2010, a national Live and Unsigned competition, where they successfully secured their place in the finals over a series of rounds playing at venues around the country, and finally winning their place in the grand final at the O2 in London, where they were crowned Open Mic UK 2010 champions.
